MANDATE

HE is a well-balanced, hardworking and intelligent personality. He obtained Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Philosophy and Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon from 1987 to 1990. Mr. Asumadu, also acquired Professional Certificate in Project Management (Blue Alliance Consult) in 2009.
Additionally, the Acting Director holds two Master of Arts (MA) Degrees in Educational Leadership (2010-2012), University of Education, Winneba and Development Studies (2013) from the University of Cape Coast respectively. Mr. Asumadu’s ability to deliver at varied levels saw him elected thrice as Presiding Member for the Sekyere East District.  When the Sekyere East District was split, Mr. Asumadu was again elected the first Presiding Member of the Sekyere Kumawu District.  
Mr. Francis Asumadu was appointed Regional Coordinator, Ashanti Region from the 1stOctober, 2003 to October, 2009. He was later transferred to the National Headquarters of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED), Accra, to support the Income Generation Activities (IGA) Unit now Occupational and Skills Development Unit. He was transferred again to the Ashanti Region in October, 2009 to monitor IGA programmes in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions. As hard working as he is Mr. Asumadu was reassigned to the Ashanti Regional Office to support the implementation of the National Functional Literacy Programme (NFLP) in the area of collaboration and monitoring.
Upon the mandatory retirement of the Ashanti Regional Coordinator, Mr. Asumadu was appointed the substantive Regional Coordinator, effective 12th June, 2017. However, the divers background and enormous experience with the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) earned him the appointment as the Acting Director of the Division, June, 2017.

Non- Formal Education is a Division under the Ministry of Education. It is required by law to address issues that pertain to non-formal and lifelong activities as stated under the Direct Principles of State policy, Article 38, Section 3, Sub- Section “b” and “c” of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic

of Ghana

STRUCTURE

The Division is managed by a Director and three (3) Deputies who head the Field Operations, Materials Development and Administration and Finance Sections. The three Deputies supervise 19 Units which develop programmes and administer activities. Offices have been established and remain operational

in all 10 Regions and 216 Districts managed by Co-ordinators. Programme

Officers and their Assistants lend support to Regional and District

Co-ordinators to ensure effective implementation of learning, class management,

skills development and post- literacy activities.

MISSION: 

Co-ordinate non-formal activities and offer quality and equitable lifelong learning opportunities for youth and adults outside formal education and functional literacy and skills development programmes across Ghana.
